Freight Train Goes Into Emergency!

An 'Emergency Application' is when a train comes to an abrupt stop caused by the activation of the emergency brake. In some cases an emergency application is used as a deliberate safety measure, taken by the locomotive engineer to prevent collisons or accidents. However, sometimes a train will spontaneously go into 'emergency' such as in this video. In this video a lenghy Canadian Pacific freight train descends the Hamilton Subdivision and loses it's air. At 1:53, the air release can be heard, this signals the beginning of the train entering an emergency application. In this instance the application was not caused by the engineer, but rather an incident with the train itself. Because the train simply lost it's air and went into emergency the conductor was not required to walk the train in search for defects. Minutes later the train would begin to proceed to its final destination of Hamilton, Ontario.
