Important Rules for Beam Design

This lecture explains some of the important rules in the design of beam. Some of them are; The width to depth of beam should be greater than 0.3. The minimum width of beam should not be less than 200 mm Overlapping length should not be less than 75cm. The minimum diameter of stirrups is 8mm. When depth of the beam exceeds 750mm, then side or skin reinforcement should be provided.
