This was part one of our Kyoto day trip — with four kids and a plan that didn’t fully go as planned. We took the train into Kyoto and made our way to two places I’ve been dreaming of revisiting: Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Kiyomizudera Temple. This video isn’t a polished walkthrough or full itinerary — just the real moments we caught while trying to navigate Japan’s busiest tourist spots with little ones in tow. You’ll see parts of our train ride, the walking (so much walking), getting slightly lost, chasing daylight, snacks, and the beauty of Kyoto even through the chaos. And right in the middle of the bamboo forest, I found a Japanese cemetery tucked away between the trees. That moment was honestly so exciting for me — I’ve always been into stuff like that, and finding something that peaceful and unexpected in the middle of all that foot traffic just hit different.
