He was one of four children, with two sisters, Helena and Marcia, and a brother, Erich. Over a career spanning 50 years, this prolific character actor racked up more than 100 film and television credits. But acting was just one facet of his creative life—he was also a screenwriter, director, and musician. Raised in California during the free-spirited heyday of the 1960s, he began as a recording artist, transitioned into a daytime soap opera star, and ultimately became a B-movie icon.
