For nearly two centuries, one idea has guided us. Care should be built on excellence, knowledge, compassion, and trust. What began in 1840 as a small teaching hospital in London grew into something far greater. In 1913, King George V and Queen Mary proudly opened King’s College Hospital London in Camberwell, and it soon became a source of care and reassurance for thousands. As healthcare progressed, King’s grew alongside it, expanding its specialities and becoming part of the NHS in 1948 as a leading teaching and academic hospital. In 1979, a friendship with His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan led to the creation of the King’s Liver Research Centre, which is now recognised as one of the world’s leading liver centres. In recent years, that legacy has continued to grow. Expansion to the UAE brought UK standards of care to a new region, including advanced Centres of Excellence, groundbreaking procedures, and the country’s first adult liver transplant. Each step carried the same values that defined King’s from the beginning. Now, the journey continues. King’s is coming to the Kingdom of Bahrain. This next chapter brings a rich heritage of over 180 years of medical excellence and compassionate care to the heart of Bahrain. King’s Bahrain represents a commitment to deliver the highest standards of UK healthcare for the future. This is not just an opening. It is a continuation of a legacy.
