River Rise Preserve State Park is a small equestrian dry-camping area with trails, a full-sized barn, washing stations for the horses, picnic tables, and water faucets at the designated spots. There is a nice rustic bathhouse with restrooms and a shower on each side. The campground host stays on the west side of the park located on U.S. Hwy 27 between Gainesville and Ft. White. and they are provided with full hookups (Electric, Water, Sewer). The east side of the park is located off U.S. Hwy 441 near O'Leno State Park. Sadly, that park of the preserve no longer has workamper sites though it did at one time and is currently closed due to high waters on the Santa Fe River. Workamping in Florida can be a fun and fulfilling experience. Volunteer workamping is even more so. Florida State Parks, Forests, Water Management Areas, National Forests, National Wildlife Reserves, and National Parks need volunteers to live on-site all year round. We will be producing informative videos and articles to encourage more and more people of all ages to volunteer soon.
