Police nab 2 Mumbwa "ritual killers" - Mwiimbu POLICE in Mumbwa are holding two people in connection with the murder of two men who had their hearts and private parts ripped out, Home Affairs minister Jack Mwiimbu has revealed. Speaking during a press briefing at Home Affairs headquarters in Lusaka this morning, Mwiimbu made an emotional appeal to Mumbwa residents not to take the law into their own hands assuring that government would bring the culprits to book. Mumbwa has been rocked by violent protests in which two business men have been killed by mobs on suspicion of being ritual killers. In a press conference, Minister Mwiimbu acknowledged the deep concerns of the community after two lives were lost in what suspected as ritual killings within a space of two days. Following the deaths, Mumbwa residents rose in angers destroy properties, lynching two businessmen in the wake of rumors surrounding their involvement in the murder. The minister who today went to check what was on ground with security wings, went on to describe the chaotic scenes that unfolded after news spread about the gruesome murders. He noted the turmoil saw enraged residents taking to the streets, attacking the two businessmen, and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. "The situation is indeed volatile," Minister Mwiimbu acknowledged. "But I urge the residents of Mumbwa to let due process take place, rather than taking the law into your own hands. We have just come back from Mumbwa, and we are making progress in the investigations." Mwiimbu disclosed that two suspects had been apprehended in connection to the murders that triggered the ordeal, though he did not provide further details about the ongoing investigation. "We are making progress; let not members of the public do anything to jeopardize the investigation," he stressed, emphasizing the importance of cooperation from the community. Mwiimbu's address made a commitment to ensuring the safety of the people of Mumbwa, including other businessmen who were being targeted in the wake of the rumors. "We will do everything possible to ensure the safety of the people of Mumbwa, including the businessmen who are being targeted," he declared. "We will bring the culprits to book."
