津島神社は、愛知県津島市にある神社。 全国に約3千社ある津島神社・天王社の総本社です。 速須佐之男命を主祭神とし、大穴牟遅命（大国主）を相殿に祀っています。 戦国時代には、経済拠点だったこの地を支配した織田氏は、社殿の造営などに尽力ました。 津島市の市名はこの津島神社の門前町が発祥であります。 厄除けの神とされる牛頭天王を祀る牛頭天王信仰は、東日本を中心に信仰を集め各地に広まっていきました。 明治の神仏分離の際、仏教的な要素は廃し御祭神を建速須佐之男命とします。 また、社名から牛頭天王の名を外し津島神社としましたが、いまも「津島の天王さま」と呼ばれ続けています。 津島神社総本社／重要文化財／愛知県津島市 ____________________________________________________ Tsushima Shrine is located in Tsushima City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. During the Meiji period, when the Shinto and Buddhist religions were separated, the Buddhist elements were abolished and the deity was changed to Takehaya-Susanoo no Mikoto. Also, the name Gozu Tenno was removed from the shrine name and it became Tsushima Shrine, but it is still called "Tenno-sama of Tsushima".
