When most people think of a pencil eraser, what comes to mind in the familiar pink rectangular eraser with the beveled edges. This is the eraser many of us grew up with - they were standard issue in elementary schools across the USA. Since I'm a pencil geek from way back, I know there are many other eraser options beyond the traditional pink block, but I still find a certain comfort in having a pink eraser in my pencil box. Maybe it's a little nostalgia, but maybe some pink erasers actually do a decent job in removing the graphite from the page. Here I do a test using nine different pink erasers: Pink Pearl by Paper Mate Pink Carnation by Dixon Staples pink eraser Pen+Gear pink eraser sold through Wal Mart stores Up & Up pink eraser sold through Target stores All Art by General Pencil Company Milan 430 eraser in pink (it's also made in white and green) WOW Office Works pink eraser sold through Kroger stores Big Pink by Charles Leonard The erasers had the task of erasing the marks lefts on the paper from 12 different #2/HB pencils, which included: Ticonderoga by Dixon Oriole by Dixon Pen+Gear sold through Wal Mart stores Blackwing 602 Pacific by General Pencil Company Ceres by Musgrave Pencil Company Palomino Golden Bear Harvest by Musgrave Pencil Company Tradition by Staedtler 9800EW by Mitsubishi Mirado by Paper Mate USA Gold by Write Dudes The results varied by eraser and by pencil, but it was clear that some pink erasers were more up to the task than others.
