Maggye's Wednesday Morning Forecast - 1/14/26

TODAY: Isolated showers will continue to move through the region today. This is due to a cold front that will move in later in the day. This will bring a line of showers, with some brief heavy downpours, across north Mississippi through the later afternoon hours. Luckily, they clear out by the later evening allowing for that drier pattern to return. Temperatures will be consistent through the day due to the moisture. We will start in the low 40s and top out in the low 50s. THURSDAY: Here comes the cold! High pressure will settle in behind the cold front and allow for Canadian air to cycle all the way into north Mississippi. That means bitter cold air is moving in as a result and our Thursday will start in the low 20s. Wind chill values easily drop into the teens due to those gusty winds. As the day goes on, the cold never goes away and we top out in the upper 30s. The good part of our Thursday is our skies stay dry and clear meaning it will be a beautiful forecast. Unfortunately, it'll be beautifully cold. FRIDAY: Cold temperatures continue as we start in the low to mid 20s, but our high temperatures get better as we reach into the low 50s. Abundant sunshine will continue throughout our Friday so make some plans to enjoy it, just layer up in the process. WEEKEND: The consistently cold forecast remains in place sitting well below average for this time of year. Both days should remain on the sunny side meaning we have a gorgeous weekend in store. BOTTOM LINE: The rain chances Wednesday will be our only chances for rain this week as high pressure will be the big driver in our forecast. Temperatures will be dangerously cold once the rainfall clears out, so make sure to protect your pipes, pets, and your plants in advance of this cold pattern.
