936 - Blackpool Tramway: Trams and buses in Blackpool town centre on Saturday 22nd November 2025

Welcome to video 936. On Saturday 22nd November 2025, we looked at Blackpool town centre's appalling traffic congestion especially around Talbot Square and the North Pier/Promenade junction where the fading yellow box junction is owefully inadequate. It does not stretch far enough south to keep the area clear for traffic turning east into Talbot Square, most of which is buses and taxis. In addition, there are no directions to stop road traffic from straying onto the Tramway when entering the Promenade from Talbot Square north westbound. There needs to be a thick white line separating the carriageway from the Tramway and keep right arrows for traffic leaving the square. "TRAM ONLY" repeated several times across the wide mouth to the Tramway would also greatly assist as it has certainly helped in deterring most vehicles from using the tram only area into the square itself. Traffic travelling south along the Promenade has no repeat traffic signal so is blissfully unaware whether the lights are green or red and simply blunders into the junction ands up blocking not only the yellow box junction but the tram lines into and out of the square northbound and southbound. The superb warning signs about trams and box junctions have been removed or have disappeared and not been replaced. A SERIOUS INCIDENT WILL HAPPEN HERE. IT IS A VERY SERIOUS HEALTH & SAFETY HAZARD and Blackpool Borough Council appears to be doing absolutely nothing about it despite being written to at the very beginning of the summer. We have never seen as many violations of the box junction as we did on 22nd November 2025 and it can only get worse! Blackpool Council - you simply MUST act and act with all haste to solve this health & safety issue. The thirteen trams in service were 001AD 002 003 006 007 008 009 011 012AD 013AD 014 015 017. We also managed to film Stagecoach North West's 28672 recently transferred to Preston from Gillmoss before the change over of operation on 1st December 2025 when Preston and Chorley depots are transferred to Stagecoach North West (Stagecoach CNL).
