On our birding adventure to Aural Mountain, the highest peak of Cambodia in the Cardamom range, we were rewarded with the amazing call of the Streaked Wren-Babbler- Gypsophila brevicaudata. This skulky little brown bird is often hard to see as it scurries like a mouse among the leaf litter, but its distinctive high, plaintive whistle gives away its presence in the dense forest. With its scaly-headed appearance, gray face, and rusty-tinged wings, the Streaked Wren-Babbler is a true gem of Cambodia’s mid- to high-altitude forests.
