Part eight of the series documenting the restoration of my 1947 Triumph Roadster (TRD655). In part seven, the petrol tank was drained, its gauge sender removed, and the filler neck severed before the tank itself is finally ‘persuaded’ out of the car. As a final task, the rear axle oil was drained and a promise of its replenishment made for the following episode. In this episode the promise of new oil is fulfilled, both in the gearbox and the rear axle. The diff cover put up something of a fight coming off but was eventually thwarted. We also take a peek inside the engine using an inspection camera before finally removing the sump and giving it a good wash out in preparation for the engines new oil and first start.
