Scientology law requires every Scientologist to write internal reports on other Scientologists when they witness what is considered a transgression in Scientology. As a result, you have a culture where Scientologists are constantly snitching on each other. Moms write reports on their daughters. A husband will write a report on his wife. A sister will write a report on her brother. Friends write reports about each other. This sort of culture allows Scientology to maintain control over its members since they know what they're doing at all times and members start to get in line so they don't get reports written on them. These reports are submitted to Scientology's ethics department and then the member is handled from there. This could involve expensive and psychologically devastating interrogations.
