After working on the truck, I took it out for a short test run. I initially got the basic RTR kit because I couldn’t pass up the discount (with everything needed to run it was just slightly more then an incomplete Tamiya Grasshopper). The original RTR with the white body lacked character in the looks department and the handling was a little bit of a loose cannon. I found used Pro shocks on fleabay for a great deal and other discounted option parts. Downgraded the motor to a 22T instead of the standard 15T for a little more control. Added cheap metal beadocks for weight and some generic soft/wider tires. Now the truck performs so much better. Still wild yet more controllable. Although I’ve modified this with inserts—the only issue I have is the way the motor/gearbox housing is designed—it takes in dirt and can strip some of the plastic gears.
