Independent TD Michael Lowry gave TDs two fingers in the Dáil Chamber as furious rows saw the Dáil dissolved for the day. There was heckling of both the Government and Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy as proposals to create a slot called Other Members' Questions for independent TDs - including those who negotiated the programme for Government - and backbenchers passed by 94 votes to 74. Due to repeated interruptions, the Dáil was suspended for the day with most of Tuesday’s business cancelled.
