SLING NEWS (February 2026, Central Valley, California): For this edition of “Rock the Vote!”, we traveled to California’s Central Valley— A Republican enclave where farmers, conservative leaders, and voters passionately champion their values. Set against the backdrop of a State known for its strong Democratic lean, the Central Valley stands out as a bastion of opposition and spirited political engagement. The Gold Rush of 1848 precipitated a significant population surge in California, culminating in the State's admission to the Union in September 1850. California's allocation of electoral votes increased consistently with each decennial census, a trend that persisted until 2010. The State's political landscape has undergone substantial transformation over time. Although contemporary California is widely regarded as a Democratic stronghold—a status partially attributable to its expanding Latino population—the State was historically a bastion of Republican support. Between 1952 and 1988, Republican Presidential candidates prevailed in most California elections, with the notable exception of Barry Goldwater's decisive defeat in 1964. #presidentsday HAVAH HOUSE Co.
