The Ukraine Naval Forces Band joined The Band of the Scots Guards during The Changing of the Guard on Monday 25th August for a very special unique ceremony marking Ukrainian Independence Day. The Ukraine Naval Forces Band were under the direction of Head of the marine Forces Centre of Military Musical Art Captain 2nd Rank Liubomyr Sukennyk and led on parade by Drum Major Military Conductor Captain 3rd Rank Maxim Kailishuk. They were escorted by Household Division Bands Regimental Sergent Major WO1 Scott. The Band of the Household Cavalry (who make a brief appearance as the St James’ Palace musical support) were under the direction of their Bandmaster WO2 Anderson. This is the first time Ukrainian troops have taken part in the ceremony and only the second time they have marched in London; the first being a small detachment during the VE80 parade in May 2025 as part of the Commonwealth, NATO and Defence Partners procession group led by The Band of the Irish Guards.
