Adam Warlock was never meant to be a typical superhero. In the mid-1970s, Jim Starlin took a character drifting through Marvel’s cosmic landscape and gave him something far more powerful than strength... purpose. In Strange Tales issues 178 to 181, Starlin redefined Adam Warlock as a tragic, philosophical figure haunted by destiny, identity, and the fear of becoming his own worst enemy. This video explores how those four issues revitalised Adam Warlock, introducing the Universal Church of Truth, the Magus, Pip the Troll, and Gamora - and laying the foundation for one of Marvel’s most ambitious cosmic sagas. It’s a story about free will, prophecy, and a hero fighting not just the universe… but his future self. Adam Warlock is one of my favourite characters in comics, and this era is where he truly became unforgettable. _________________________________________________________________________________ Twitter/X - https://x.com/mn_stash Instagram - / mn_stash Membership - / @mnstash _________________________________________________________________________________ 00:00 - Welcome to The Stash 02:18 - A Character Waiting for a Purpose 03:54 - Enter the Universal Church of Truth 05:47 - Pip the Troll and the Dawn of Warlock’s New Family 07:09 - The Arrival of Gamora 08:21 - Warlock’s Descent Into Madness 10:47 - Why This Era Means So Much to Me 12:43 - Comics From The Stash!
