LV30 was delivered to China Motor Bus in 1980 as the first batch of Victories MK2 with Alexander CB bodies. It relentlessly served routes 4, 9, 41, 81 – any route with a hilly terrain. These buses were known as “Chicken” by the locals, as the Victory’s rough acceleration and deceleration made it look like a chicken while doing so. On the 1st September 1998, like most of the CMB vehicles, LV30 was sold to New World First Bus. It was one of the rare Victories that was repainted into the standard NWFB livery. During its service with NWFB, LV30 mostly served routes 9, 81, 95. In early 2000, farewell banners was printed on it, saying “20 Years of loyal service to Hong Kong. Farewell Victory!” marking the end of the 20-year reign of the Victories in Hong Kong. Its last journey was on the 31st August 2000, as it made its final journey towards Shek O whilst on route 9. This was the last Leyland Victory MK2 in service with NWFB. After retirement, the bus was kept by NWFB and then passed to the Hong Kong Classical Transportation Club for preservation. However, in 2012, LV30 was purchased for a private collection and was repainted into the standard CMB blue. On the 26th of October 2014, LV30 participated, along with 5 other vintage cars, to a carnival event, “Festival Hong Kong”. This video is dedicated to the only preserved Leyland Victory running in Hong Kong ~
