The gastroscope has a long, thin, and flexible tube with camera systems and capabilities to perform procedures such as biopsy and removal of #polyps. The main tool used to look inside the upper GI tract is the gastroscope. The endoscopist passes the gastroscope through the oesophagus into the stomach and duodenum. The upper digestive tract is washed clean and examined in detail. The examination would also involve the use of narrowband imaging (special light) to detect pathology that would otherwise be invisible.
