Barrick Mineral Resource Management Executive Simon Bottoms speaks at Barrick's Investor Day on November 22, 2024, at the New York Stock Exchange. Bottoms says that the first of our strategic filters is that we only invest in ore-bodies where the primary revenue is generated from gold or copper mineralization albeit we acknowledge that some will come with other byproduct credits. With specific regards to our asset quality filters, we have clearly defined criteria for Tier One assets, for which gold projects need to have the potential to produce more than 500,000 ounces per annum for at least 10 years, and copper projects need to have the potential for reserves of more than 5 million tons of contained copper, both of which require life of mine costs to be in the lower half of the industry cost curve.
