Devindra Fadnavis sworn in as Maha CM: 10 points 1. In an early Saturday twist, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maha CM and NCP’s Ajit Pawar as the Deputy CM 2. The NCP was in talks with Shiv Sena and Congress untill yesterday 3. On Friday, NCP chief Sharad Pawar had said that Uddhav Thackeray was his choice for CM 4. BJP & Sena fought the election together, so did the Congress and NCP 5. Although the BJP-Shiv Sena combine won the election, they could not agree on terms to form the govt 6. Shiv Sena wanted the CM's post for 2.5 years out of 5 years, which BJP did not agree to 7. Following the stalemate, Maharashtra was placed under President’s rule on November 12 8. On November 23, PM Modi and Amit Shah congratulated Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar 9. After the oath ceremony, Fadnavis said, “People had given a clear mandate. Shiv Sena rejected the mandate” 10.
