This dress was donated to me by a follower and it belonged to her mother who wore it for her wedding in 1964. As is often the case with vintage wedding dresses, it had become yellowed from time. In addition there was quite a bit of damage to the lace and the zipper was broken. I wanted to treat it as gently as possible, so I used an athletic mesh covered pvc frame / rack that I have made (see my other videos for a how to on this) and used a combination of Retro Wash and then Sodium Perborate (Retro Wash is the same thing) which brightened it up nicely. I replaced the zipper and repaired the majority of the broken lace by adding pieces of vintage net underneath and hand stitching in place- which took several hours but improved it greatly. I am happy with how it turned out- I hope Kay would be happy too. The dress is currently listed in the wedding section of my Etsy- see my bio for the shop link.#vintageclothescleaning #beforeandafter #weddinggowns #oldvintage #sewing #vintageweddingdresscleaning
