On February 28, Crandall ISD will celebrate its 125th anniversary. In the weeks leading up to this milestone, we’re sharing the stories of people who helped shape our district into what it is today. With Super Bowl Sunday on everyone’s mind, it's a fitting day to highlight Willie Mumphrey, who graduated as Crandall High School valedictorian just months after the first Super Bowl was played in 1967. Mr. Mumphrey was part of the group of Black students who integrated Crandall ISD in 1965. When he looks back on that time, he says he experienced no issues and felt welcomed and supported as a student. He credits his two years in Crandall with helping build the confidence and foundation that led to his success in life. Take a moment to hear his story.
