Thank you! 🙏 Welcome to the royal city of Klang, located about 30km west of central KL. Not only is it home to the Sultan of Selangor State but it also used to be the capital of the state. Named after the river it sits on, Klang has been a site of human settlement since prehistoric times. Bronze Age drums, axes and other artefacts have been found in the vicinity such as a bronze bell dating from the 2nd century BC. The city has existed since at least 1445 when it was controlled by Malacca, making it one of the oldest settlements in peninsula Malaysia. The Klang River was marked and named on the earliest maritime charts of Chinese Admiral Cheng Ho, who visited Malacca in the 15th century. Klang remained in Malay hands after the fall of Malacca to the Portuguese in 1511, and was controlled by the Sultan of Johor. In the 17th century, the Bugis began to settle in the coastal region of Selangor including Klang, and the Selangor sultanate was created in 1766, which then controlled Klang. Chinese miners arrived here in the 19th century to work in the tin mines. In 1874, Selangor accepted a British Resident who would "advise" the Sultan, and Klang became the capital of British colonial administration for Selangor from 1875 until 1880 when the capital city was moved to Kuala Lumpur due to its growth from tin-mining. Now, the city isn’t brimming over with amazing colonial architecture but it does hold its own with some very nice buildings including some attractive religious buildings. 0:00 - Intro 1:20 - History 3:05 - Railway Station 4:17 - Klang Art Street 5:00 - Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery 6:00 - Chennai Silk Palace 8:16 - Royal Klang Club 8:40 - Istana Alam Shah 9:10 - Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque & Royal Mausoleum 10:50 - Kwan Imm Temple 12:30 - Church of Our Lady of Lourdes 13:00 - Little India 15:40 - Indian Muslim Mosque 16:25 - Sri Nagara Thandayuthapani Temple 17:20 - Klang Selatan Fire and Rescue Station 17:56 - Gedung Raja Abdullah 18:26 - Kota Raja Mahadi Locations of the places visited in this video are as follows: 📍 Railway Station: https://maps.app.goo.gl/KCmrF7dnFwfdY... 📍 Klang Art Street: https://maps.app.goo.gl/SCQKTKdSm7ntH... 📍 Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery: https://maps.app.goo.gl/r5x1F8SWXLRro... 📍 Chennai Silk Palace: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XvAFvb26RJFWf... 📍 Royal Klang Club: https://maps.app.goo.gl/2Azq6zQM7Qi4A... 📍 Istana Alam Shah: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CuqJtaxirgpwM... 📍 Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque & Royal Mausoleum: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LC8KaESAmsppD... 📍 Kwan Imm Temple: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ArVugfExmALeF... 📍 Church of Our Lady of Lourdes: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RXXEzQMUAGCnF... 📍 Little India: https://maps.app.goo.gl/5jSWTPihqhHNi... 📍 Indian Muslim Mosque: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8T3rMAQA3eD2x... 📍 Sri Nagara Thandayuthapani Temple: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tCQAE1hUVQaHQ... 📍 Klang Selatan Fire and Rescue Station: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jtjsQwbkRarHj... 📍 Gedung Raja Abdullah: https://maps.app.goo.gl/W2NSwNQSzk1n5... 📍 Kota Raja Mahadi: https://maps.app.goo.gl/seLzcSNCYvpar...
