20FEB2026: I began today with no thought of enjoying an alternate route until seeing the posting that no THROUGH traffic was allowed. Obviously, that is not a reference to an explorer like me, right? As I continued to drive up the Tehachapi Loop, the snow/ice continued to make it look like a Winter wonderland. I was just concerned that maybe I ought not have driven beyond the posted “stay out” instructions. ¿Why don’t I have 4-wheel drive….? ¿Or maybe 17.5” wheels like the ones on my first (motor)vehicle, a 1959 Chevy 3/4ton flatbed with staked sides; {it was a slow/single-carb straight-6 farm truck that I trained up on during my weeks on the Upper Meramec River/Powell Ranch—and was given to me once my 14-year old fondness for it became evident. In fact, I hand-painted it international orange, after which it became known as “the frog”.} So, my rule was to GO SLOW, creeping up the slickened asphalt.
