Indian drummer, educator and composer Darshan Doshi was introduced to the world of drumming at the age of 2. His father, a musician, used to run a music academy and there would frequently be classes at his home - with musicians playing drums, keyboards and guitars. “It was buzzing from day one…for me, it was pretty easy to just get into that environment”, said Doshi during his conversation at the Teamwork Arts Podcast. At the age of 2, Doshi took him to a gig where his mother sat him on the drum-kit because he was crying. “After that, I did not want to leave…and the minute they tried to put me out, I started crying again!” After his ‘first gig’ at the age of 2, he knew that he wanted to be a musician and a drummer. “I did my studies....but the focus was always music,” noted Doshi. “I have always been at the right place at the right time,” when Doshi was at the age of 9, the Indian composers Kalyanji-Anandji took note of him playing a short solo at his father’s concert and decided to make him a band-member of kids’ band called ‘Little Wonders’ - from 1994 to 2000, he did about 200 concerts with them all around the world. His journey in the world of music, from Kalyanji-Anandji to Vishal Mishra, is extremely inspiring and Doshi believes that if anybody is true to their art and gives it their best - anything is possible! #Darshan_Doshi #musician #Indian_drummer
