This is the 7th time Chip Ganassi Racing won pole at the Indianapolis 500 (Scott Dixon: 2021, 2017, 2015, 2008; Bruno Junqueira: 2002; Arie Luyendyk: 1993). This extends Chip Ganassi’s position for the 2nd-most in race history. Chip Ganassi Racing is the first team to start 1-2 on the grid of the Indianapolis 500 since 2010. This is just the 2nd time CGR has ever started 1-2 in the Indianapolis 500, also accomplishing the feat in 2008 (Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon). Dixon has now secured the 2nd-most pole positions in Indianapolis 500 history. Only Rick Mears (6) has more. Dixon is the first driver to win pole position in consecutive years since Ed Carpenter in 2013-14. This is the 28th all-time pole victory for Dixon, taking sole possession for 10th-most in all-time INDYCAR SERIES history.
