Green Grapes Hanging description: The art of the grape. Delmus's series on grapes is a wonder to behold. His ability to capture what appears at first glance a rather pleasant photo of a bunch of grapes, until you realize this is a painting, and you find your mouth watering with desire to reach out and pluck the juiciest specimen in the group. In the series, a group or bunching of 3 types of grapes are depicted. A dark, almost black purple grape, a green grape and finally a burgundy grape. In this example, the green grapes have the entire gamut of what grapes have to offer. There appears within the bunch the very sour variety yet also, there are touches of pinks and oranges illuminating from the juicy flesh in a few. These will be the sweetest. There is also present the beautiful pale blue and silver coating called "bloom". This is a natural product of a waxy coating of all grapes and other soft fruits (like blueberries). This protects the grapes to keep them plump. This bloom is very fragile, merely touching the grape will remove it and you can see where a drop of dew has slid down the side of the grape, taking with it its bloom coating and revealing the color of the grape skin underneath. The dew drops present over most of the grapes bunch also add to the wetness and shining sparkle to the composition. No two water drops are the same, like snowflakes, each unique in its creation and depiction. A few of the grapes, those in the front of the bunch, are in sharp focus which accentuates the realism. Those closer to the back are slightly out of focus which leads your eyes back into the center where the stars of the show reside. Hopefully this painting has brought you back to a time in your past. When a plate full of these luscious beauties were brought out to the porch to enjoy and watch the sun setting. A bit of cheese, a glass of wine to go with, and some companionship to enjoy, will close out your evening. This painting is on Masonite board and is offered with the gold frame as shown.
