Contending For You

Paul writes to the Colossian church expressing his deep concern and contention for them, even though he has never met many of them personally. He emphasizes that his goal is for believers to be encouraged in heart and united in love so they can experience the full riches of complete understanding. At the center of this understanding is Christ himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Paul warns against being deceived by fine-sounding arguments that suggest believers need something more than Christ alone. The gospel may appear hidden or mysterious, but Christ is sufficient for everything God wants to accomplish in believers' lives.
