The most notable conflict arising from the return of the wolf to our cultivated landscapes concerns grazing livestock. Wolves will hunt sheep and goats if they are not adequately protected. Area-wide herd protection is the necessity for coexistence and can significantly prevent wolf-caused damage to grazing animals. We accompanied the wolf expert Peter Schütte and his team of volunteers for a day of work. The volunteers set up a permanent wolf-repellent electric fence to protect a herd of sheep in Lower Saxony, Germany.
