This was the first genetic genealogy case that I was able to solve! I solved it for the family of Robert Simmons. The objective was to attempt to identify the true identity and birth information for Edward Emanuel Simpson/Simmons who died on 19 July 1924 in Pocatello, Bannock, Idaho. Additional objectives were to identify the parents and siblings of Edward and extend his pedigree as much as possible in the project time limits. Autosomal DNA tests were conducted to identify potential cousins of Edward’s descendant, Robert Simmons in an effort to find unknown relations to Edward who had not been identified through traditional genealogical methods. The objective was met, and it was determined that Edward Emanuel Simpson/Simmons was born Magnus Emanuel Sundstrom in Hällesjö, Jämtland, Sweden on 5 September 1876. His parents were identified to be Erik Gustav Sundstrom, who was born on 27 March 1859 in Hällesjö, Jämtland, Sweden and died in about 1885 in Minnesota, and Sigrid Johana Ostlund, who was born on 5 November 1857 in Brunflo, Jämtland, Sweden, and died on 17 January 1931 in Wadena, Wadena, Minnesota, United States.
