Batwanis Beek is a classic and a long-time favorite of mine. It was originally created by legendary Egyptian composer, Salah El Sharnouby, and sung by Warda Al-Jazairia. For the Arabian Hafla in Port St. Lucie, I chose an arrangement by Tony Mouzayek, a Syrian singer in Brazil whose version was a bit more energetic and cheeky, which I felt would match this woman's only event and my way of expressing, perfectly. Batwanes Bik is about expressing how the presence, thoughts, and even voice of a beloved bring joy and solace, making life beautiful, and feeling lost when apart.
