India and Pakistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire after several days of military escalation, deadly cross-border attacks, and mutual accusations, which had sparked serious concerns that the two nuclear-armed nations might enter a full-scale war. Despite the ceasefire agreement, violations were reported later the same day, with explosions heard across parts of Indian-administered Kashmir.
