Here's how the original Chevy Trailblazer was the most rebadged car in GM's history

In this episode I provide the history of the original Chevrolet Trailblazer, which first started as a high-end trim of the Chevy Blazer in 1999, and then in 2002 was one of six models that shared GM's new GMT-360 truck platform. The Trailblazer was by far the most popular of the six models that shared the platform, selling twice as many as the other five models combined. The Trailblazer launched alongside the GMC Envoy and Oldsmobile Bravada, and the fist two also offered extended-length versions (GMT-370). The Chevy SSR also borrowed from this platform to be the GMT-368. Initially the Trailblazer was sold alongside the GMC Envoy and Oldsmobile Bravada. All three had their own unique body shell and dash designs. The Bravada was gone by 2004 when the entire Oldsmobile brand shut down. The Isuzu Ascender also shared the platform starting in 2003. The Buick Rainier and Saab 9-7X started in 2004 and also used the Bravada body shell. All 6 models were cancelled at the end of 2008 when the Moraine, OH plant shut down, one of several casualties of GM's bankruptcy. In 2021, a new compact crossover built in South Korea was given the Trailblazer name.
