Ziad's last " By Pass " in Rahbani Street, Antelias 28 July 2025, 10:40 AM At 10:40 that morning, Ziad's funeral hearse arrived in his birthplace, Antelias. The sirens paused, and the cars stopped, as the cleric prayed to bid Ziad Rahbani a religious farewell. One person carried the Lebanese flag and another one held a portrait of Ziad from the popular musical play " The American Motion Picture " (1985). The hymn of " Al Majdou Laka ", chanted by the voices of Madonna Arnita and Joseph Sakr, kept playing loud at the Mar Elias church. " Al Majdou Laka " ( Glory To You ) is a song composed by Ziad from the album " Kyrie Eleison " which was recorded by Ziad himself and his cousin Bechara El-Khoury in 1977 in Mar Elias of Antelias, at Mar Elias where his father Assi Rahbani's funeral took place on June 21, 1986. Later in 2013, Ziad gave a significant charity concert in the same church... The main road in Antelias is named after the " Rahbani Brothers ", and the old house that once the Rahbani family lived in was later transformed into a branch of the Bank of Beirut. Banners reading quotes by Ziad hung all the way on the road from Antelias to Bikfaya, from birthplace to resting place, the Alpha and Omega. " Ana Sar Lezem Wade'kon " ( I Have To Say Goodbye ) text hung on Antelias Bridge, near Al Halabi Restaurant, known for being Assi's favorite social spot... " I Have To Say Goodbye " is the first line of " Farewell Song ", which is the first track on Fairuz' " Kifak Inta " album, first released in 1991 on Relax-In label. The album " Kifak Inta " is fully written, composed and arranged by Ziad Rahbani. Ziad Rahbani's funeral took place at the Church of Our Lady of the Dormition in Mhaydse-Bikfaya on 28 July 2025. The funeral date coincides with Sahriye's two-day play that took place in the parvis of the same church on 27-28 July 1974. Sahriye, Ziad's earliest popular musical play, was first performed in 1973 at the Bkenaya Theater in Bkenaya, Jal El Dib.
