Scythian treasures preserved by Ukraine

Due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the exposition of the Treasury of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine was evacuated to a safe place. Only after the successful repulse of the attempted attack on Kyiv, it became possible to display exhibits for public view in our museum. At the "Saved in Ukraine" exhibition, we tried to show how the museum protects and restores artefacts that are the cultural heritage of Ukraine. Some items are presented here by copies, but most of the objects at the exhibition are original samples of the art of the Greeks and Scythians. These two ancient peoples lived on the territory of Ukraine for a long time and left behind countless archaeological monuments. In the video, you will hear stories about the most interesting artefacts, as well as about the destruction of archaeological monuments and museum collections of Ukraine by the enemy. PhD Oksana Lifantii, the leading researcher at the Treasury and the curator of this exhibition, conducts the tour.
