In January 2010, I traveled to Senegal for the first time to study with Aly Ndiaye Rose, son of the legendary master drummer Doudou Ndiaye Rose. Over one month, I took 16 lessons that changed my spiritual and musical path forever. I practiced every day, memorized the rhythms and compositions, and at the end of my stay, we performed them together. This 32-minute video shares almost all the rhythms and compositions I learned during that time - my foundation and lifelong inspiration from the Ndiaye Rose family tradition.
