Yay! My digital book is finally released: Conjugation of 100 most-frequently used Turkish verbs Buy here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/44138092... This video describes how to make words plural in Turkish language. Making words plural in Turkish depends on 2-way vowel harmony rule. This means that the plural ending that will be added to the word depends on the vowel in the last syllable of the word: If the vowel in the last syllable is a hard vowel (a, ı, o, u) then you add the plural ending -lar. If the vowel in the last syllable is a soft vowel (e, i, ö, ü) then you add plural ending -ler. Let's look at some examples below: araba (car) – arabalar (cars) kalem (pen) – kalemler (pens) düğün (wedding) – düğünler (weddings) kadın (woman) – kadınlar (women) yağmur (rain) – yağmurlar (rains) The same rule applies to adjectives and verbs: Adjectives: beyaz (white) – beyazlar (the whites) yeşil (green) – yeşiller (the greens) güçlü (strong) – güçlüler (the strong ones) Verbs (3rd person plural): they will do – yapacaklar they drank – içtiler they are sitting – oturuyorlar they would go – giderler A few words don’t follow the rule. They are mostly words imported from other languages: saat (clock) – saatler (clocks) metal (metal) – metaller (metals) gol (goal) – goller (goals) kalp (heart) – kalpler (hearts) Learn Turkish by getting educational videos every day.
