When asked whether he would consider compromise or power-sharing between the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the National Unity Platform (NUP), Bobi Wine—the NUP presidential candidate who was widely believed to have been rigged out in the 2026 elections and later went into hiding amid a manhunt allegedly ordered by Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba—made it clear that such considerations were not his priority. Speaking in an interview with Jaira Reports, Bobi Wine stated that his foremost concern was survival. He explained that, if given the opportunity, he would flee Uganda; however, until such a moment arises, his mission remains to continue fighting for the freedom of the Ugandan people. He emphasized that his only hope and desire was freedom. The interview stood out as one of his most assertive and candid public engagements, underscoring the gravity of the political repression he described. Below is Bobi Wine’s interview, followed by my commentary.
