Big Gal on the Crappie Head: Winter Catfish on Badin Lake

I got out for a day on the water at Badin Lake in North Carolina. I've caught several nice catfish out of here in the last few years in the 30-50lb class. The biggest fish seem to prefer fresh crappie heads as well as large fresh white perch. Most of the fish I caught were in deeper water, between 25' to 40' deep. I've had my Garmin Livescope installed on my kayak for about a year and really enjoy using it for vertical fishing like this. Although you can't really tell if the catfish are there if they're laying on the bottom, it's really interesting to watch all of the activity under the boat and my pulse always starts to race when I see a big one approach my baits.
