This project arose from the need to help Jamaica, the island from which our musical roots originate, after it was ravaged by a natural disaster. While following media reports about Hurricane Melissa and seeing the damage it caused, the lyrics and melody for “Don't Cry Jamaica” appeared in my head - says Tomek “Rass Tomi” Jankowski. The song was sung by Zuzanna Kulka, a very talented young vocalist with a mesmerizing voice. K-Jah Sound handled the entire production and, together with distinguished musicians, crafted a beautifully pulsating riddim. He also sent the piece to Jamaican vocalist Omar Perry (the son of the legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry), who recorded his own version of it. That is how another track, “Time Will Heal,” was born. We titled the whole project “A Living Tree” and are releasing it under the banner “Connected with Jamaica.” A tree is a symbol of life, strength, and permanence, but also of renewal, the cycle of Mother Nature, and rebirth. Its branches symbolize growth, the building of relationships, and connecting people, just as we are connecting with Jamaica today. The tree on the cover is a symbol of Treasure Beach, one that had weathered more than one hurricane. Unfortunately, Melissa proved to be stronger. Today, we are thrilled to present this single, which is our musical contribution to a fundraising campaign. Inspired by the efforts of many Jamaican (and other) musicians, we are following the example of Sean Paul, who supports the Food For the Poor Jamaica organization (https://www.foodforthepoorja.org/), and are donating all proceeds from sales to the rebuilding of Jamaica. We are supported by the Ostróda Reggae Festival and the Idziemy Razem Foundation. The single can be purchased via Bandcamp. Listen and donate - https://rasstomi.bandcamp.com/album/l...
