One of best hikes in Switzerland overlooking massive glacial spread of Aletsch glacier. The hike starts at the Bettmeralp cable-car mountain station at 1900 mtrs. Going to summit of Bettmerhorn (2,800 mtrs) via a fixed rope route. From there over partly exposed but well-secured ridge for about 1.5km, until one reaches the descent down to Elselicka. The path along the ridge is designated an Alpine Route and is UNESCO heritage. It is though suitable only for sure-footed with no fear of heights and involves some scrambling! From Elselicka, the route follows a hiking trail up to the summit of Eggishorn at 2900 mtrs. Then climb down 1000 mtrs towards lake Marjelnesee and leading to Aletsch glacier . On return we pass through a tunnel to village of Fiescheralp from where a cable car is taken down the valley. Overall more than 20 km worth of hiking over some of amazing alpine terrain involving scramblimg up summits and touching the tounge of glacier.
