Entrepreneurship, creativity, and real-world learning were on full display as 100 juniors from the 3DE cohort at Dominguez High School showcased their business ideas during 3DE Market Day. The event marked the culmination of a six-month project in which scholars worked in teams to develop original business concepts and build comprehensive plans for launching and operating their companies. In total, scholars presented 27 different student-created businesses to peers and a panel of 3DE judges. The student entrepreneurs presented a wide range of ideas, including photography services, baking and dessert businesses, beauty and skincare products, custom cell phone cases, and more. Throughout the event, scholars pitched their concepts, explained their business strategies, and answered questions from judges about marketing, operations, and growth plans. At the end of the presentations, judges praised the scholars for their creativity, professionalism, and thoughtful planning. The team behind Hydra Lift earned First Place, while the creators of Bloom and Sip received the People’s Choice Award, voted on by attendees. Compton Unified School District first launched the 3DE program at Dominguez High School three years ago, giving scholars access to a dynamic learning model focused on critical thinking, collaboration, and entrepreneurship, thanks to support from Junior Achievement of Southern California.
