This is Patrick Power’s 79 Series LandCruiser and today we’re installing a True Track rear hub extension kit to correct the factory track mismatch between the front and rear axles. This video walks through the full install process, shows what’s included in the kit, and explains why this modification matters for drivability, legality and component longevity. -- VEHICLE OVERVIEW -- Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series One of the last V8 models Automatic transmission conversion already completed Safari Armax ECU power upgrade fitted Low kilometres and built properly from day one -- THE PROBLEM -- Factory front axle track is significantly wider than the rear Results in mismatched wheel tracks off-road Increased stress on rear hubs and bearings when running offset wheels Poor handling feel on uneven terrain Illegal wheel offsets often used to “fix” the issue incorrectly -- TRUE TRACK HUB EXTENSION SOLUTION -- True Track rear hub extension kit 55mm track increase per side Corrects rear track to match the front Maintains legal wheel offsets Reduces bearing and driveline load Engineered and compliant solution -- WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE KIT -- Hub extension assemblies Longer axles New seals Longer brake lines ABS sensor extensions Templates and cutting guides All required fasteners Correct Loctite compounds Cleaning wipes and consumables Clear, detailed installation instructions -- INSTALL PROCESS OVERVIEW -- Strip rear hubs, brakes and axles Remove original hub stub Use supplied template to notch housing for ABS sensor Fit internal debris protection before cutting Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly Test fit extension before final assembly Apply correct compounds: Loctite 609 retaining compound on inner surfaces Loctite 515 flange sealant Loctite 263 thread locker on fasteners Install and torque in stages to spec Refit bearings, rotors, calipers and brake lines Install longer axles Reconnect ABS sensors and handbrake extensions -- QUALITY CONTROL -- Torque sequence followed in multiple stages All fasteners torque-marked Thread engagement visually confirmed Brake lines and ABS routing checked Final inspection before road test -- FINAL RESULT -- Rear track now matches front track Vehicle follows a single wheel path off-road Improved handling and stability No illegal wheel offsets required Fully engineered and compliant Test driven and confirmed fault-free This vehicle is also running an automatic transmission conversion and Safari Armax ECU package, and with the track corrected it drives exactly how a 79 should.
