6/7/20 4 Pump Attendance-Flooding-Burst Water Main-8 Rescued. A406 Brent Cross Interchange, NW2

On the 6th July 2020 as a result of a burst water main, the A406 was flooded in Brent Cross area and closed in both directions, trapping a number of cars in rising water. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended and Firefighters and rescued eight people who were trapped in their vehicles due to the depth of the water. There were no reports of any injuries. The Police and members of the utility companies also attended the scene. This incident lead to travel chaos on all surrounding roads including the M1 and A41 The A406 is expected to remain closed to facilitate repairs for a number of days. It has also been reported that a significant number of drivers were reported for traffic offences as cars were seen driving in the wrong direction on slip roads and using hard shoulders inappropriately.
