Interview Date: 09/03/2010 Interviewer: Nykolaiszyn, Juliana; Finchum, Tanya Interview Location: Guthrie, Oklahoma Norval and Dusa Gooch, fourth-generation owners of the Gooch Homestead, claimed in 1889, discussed the history of the land and the family that settled it. The original farm produced cotton, wheat, and cattle, as well as several varieties of fruit. When Norval acquired the farm he raised cattle, built a sawmill, and began leasing the land for various grasses used for cattle feed. Norval and Dusa discussed the labor involved in operating a farm and the hard work it takes to continue farming into old age. This interview was conducted as part of the Centennial Farm Families Oral History Project at the OSU Library.
