At IWA 2026 we stopped by the Tanfoglio booth to look at the new Limited Optic, a competition-focused pistol designed to deliver match-ready performance at a more accessible price point. Tanfoglio has long been a major player in IPSC and practical shooting competition, and the company continues to refine its pistols based on feedback from shooters who put tens of thousands of rounds through their guns every year. The Limited Optic is positioned as an entry-level competition pistol, but it retains many of the features serious shooters expect. Key features include: • Steel frame and steel slide construction • Polygonal match barrel • Fully adjustable single-action trigger • Frame-mounted manual safety • Firing pin safety • Optics-ready steel mounting plate included • Compatible with most major red-dot footprints • Large-frame platform with 22–24 round magazines The pistol ships with adjustable iron sights and an optics plate system that allows shooters to mount a wide range of red dots without purchasing additional adapters. The large-frame design also allows caliber conversions, including potential 10mm and .45 configurations using conversion kits. European pricing is approximately €1,798 including VAT, which would likely translate to roughly $1,400–$1,500 in the U.S. depending on import costs. For shooters looking to get into practical shooting competition without spending race-gun money, the Limited Optic aims to deliver a serious performance platform at a more accessible price.
