Looks like I'm starting off my YouTube chiptune uploads in 2026 with something meddlesome (though I did make something else last week that I hope to release soon)! :D I've been wanting to cover Marx's theme from Kirby Super Star, VS. Marx, since last year, even going as far as to learn the song's changing time signature (fitting for Marx's tricky nature) around June or July, as you could probably tell by me having Marx hum his theme in Gooey's Wormy Business. The thing is, I could not figure out which chip(s) I wanted to use for the cover, since the song only uses 5 of the 8 voices that the SNES's S-SMP chip has. Later on, I managed to get Gradius Origins with my Christmas money, and I spent a lot of time playing the original Gradius 1 (or Nemesis) from 1985 and even managing to finally 1CC it! It reminded me of how much I love that game and ESPECIALLY its soundtrack by Miki Higashino. It's really no surprise that it was one of the games that inspired Yuzo Koshiro to pursue game music as a career. That was when I realized that its style on the Konami Bubble System would be a really cool fit for Marx's theme (it's especially apparent when you hear the Stage 5 theme Mazed Music). Thank tildearrow we have Furnace tracker to make this idea a reality (god, it's been 3 years since I last did anything with the Konami Bubble System lol)! I will say that it was a bit tricky figuring out how I would arrange the notes while staying as true as possible to the style of Gradius, but I think I did a pretty good job. Certainly doesn't help that I don't have a proper frame of reference for the volume envelopes outside of listening to each voice in Hoot. Authentic or not, I really love how this turned out, and I'm hoping you guys will enjoy it too! It's all according to my perfect little plan... ;P Here are the downloads for this song: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder...
